Headed to Clearwater Beach today? Your best bet is to go early or later in the day. Avoid the peak times of late morning and early afternoon if you can. And if you do go, remember the importance of social distancing and staying 6 feet away from those not with you. And don't congregate in groups of 10 or more. The people in these photos from last weekend found their own beach -- not squeezed in close to other people. Many of them found a gorgeous piece of real estate far from the water back by the dunes. The view was just as spectacular. As the sand gets more crowded, our officers and the city's beach ambassadors will direct people to more wide-open areas of the sand. Keep this online tool from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office handy -- https://pcsoweb.com/beachcapacity -- it resumes service at 9 a.m. Saturday and continues through the weekend. It lets you know the latest capacity at beaches, boat ramps and parking lots.
